The Story of a Storm

•May 5, 2008 • 4 Comments

OK, here’s the story I promised:  A long, long time ago in a state far, far away (not really) I was on my first week long camping trip (I remember it well).  It had been rainy all week but we had never expected what was to come.  It started as a sprinkle, then a drizzle; this is what happened all week so it was nothing new.  Then it started raining really hard (still nothing new), so my buddy Paul invited me into his tent.  We were sitting there talking when suddenly we heard an incredibly loud thunder blast (something new!).  We noticed that it was getting pretty bad.  Then suddenly some staff members drove up in a four wheeler with a megaphone screaming “Get to the dining hall!  There’s a tornado and it’s getting closer! Don’t worry about your stuff just run! Run! Run! Run!” ….I ran… Like a flash I was off, running at the speed of a completely freaked out 11 year old  Paul was running along beside me also running at the speed of a completely freaked out 12 year old.  The lightning was so bright it blinded you, the thunder was so loud it deafened you, the rain was so thick you couldn’t see an inch in front of your face, the wind was so strong it knocked all 93 pounds of me over.  That’s when I lost Paul…  A lightning bolt struck down in the field to our right, Paul side rolled into a ditch to our left…  I never saw him again (that hour anyway).  I kept running.  It stunk because the dining hall was 2 miles away, to this day I don’t know how I ran all that way.  Even through all that noise I could hear the muffled screams of small scouts being sucked away  (that’s what it sounded like anyway).  My life flashed before my eyes which only took 5 minutes so it kept repeating itself (I always wondered who had tripped me at the park).  My adrenaline was running low and I started slowing down; I could see the hall.  I had made it! * hears thunder and a swirling windy noise* .  AAAAAAA! Run! Run! Run! Made it!  I walked in and saw that my patrol was very scared and torn up one was in shock (no kidding), one lost his hat (the hated fruity yellow hat so no one minded), some were just scared.  Me being the assistant patrol leader (Paul was the patrol leader but he was dead in a ditch) so I tried to calm them all down.  Eventually the survivors arrived (including the ghost of Paul) and the storm ended.  The tornado had been a mile away from where we were and we all survived!  No one was very happy(plus the food that night was terrible so it was overall a bad camp out).  If it had been your first camp out you would never had gone again.  But  I’m alive and well and I’ll never forget that experience.  What a life! <><

I’m alive

Well, the tornado didn’t come but one of the worst storms that I have ever seen was outside ( It was really bad because my window was open all night, stupid me).  I have never seen so much lightning ( except for that one time I actually experienced a tornado on a camp out, I’ll talk about that in my next post though. I just wanted to let everyone know I’m alive. <><

I’m scared

There’s been a tornado warning in the county below us.  It’s not very likely that it will come this far up, and we are in a hilly terrain, but still there is a small chance that it will move up and I must say that it’s very unnerving.  We are all prepared to run down to the basement as fast as we can the second we hear a siren.  It’s very nice that we are friends with all the neighbors and we will all be in the same basement since we are in a barracks.  The only reason that I’m writing this post is because it calms me down a little.  Pray for us and remember that it’s still probably not going to happen.  Hopefully I’ll post again soon <><    :)

Knife Defence

•April 30, 2008 • 3 Comments

I took a class to help me defend myself from someone with a knife, which was really cool.  I can now defend myself from most knife attacks ( I hope that won’t have to use them though).  I felt sorry for our demonstrator, because the one who was pretending to attack with the knife got beaten up.  Our demonstrator didn’t pretend to defend himself he actually hit the guy pretty hard.  But I just wanted to let you all know that if you’re not only ignoring me but planning to murder as well, that you might want to use something besides a knife lol. <><

Randomness

•April 28, 2008 • 2 Comments

Yet again, to many things have happened that could be made into several differentposts. So once again I give you Random stuff! There was a yard sale, and the entire base had come, the worst part is that it was right behind our house, I couldn’t even walk to the garbage bin without having to wait in line.  I am also going to start going to the high school and middle school youth groups, I went to the middle school youth group at first because my friend Jack is 12, but once your 13 you can go to both, and jacks birthday is 2 days away from mine. since I’ll turn 14 (WOOT!) 2 days later , and be too old for the middle school I will become a helper from the older class who comes to hang out with the younger kids.  I would also like to give special thanks to IV for being the only person who hasn’t been ignoring me.  Congrats Bro : ). <><

O well

I would like to say that even though all but 1 of you people are ignoring me for some unknown reason, I will continue making posts to humor myself.<><

Hello everybody!  I was on another campout so sorry if I haven’t responded to anything.  I went to the Cosmo-sphere, one of the 8 wonders of Kansas, and it rocked!  We got to see 2 Imax movies, “Lewis and Clark” and ” Astronauts”, they were both awesome!  I also got to see and touch the Apollo 13… THE Apollo 13!  I still don’t know why they chose Kansas for something as famous as that.  The food was great and the woods were big.  Everything a scout needs, exept that it was freezing cold.  We played manhunt until 1:30 in the morning and then most of us went to bed and talked about sports video games and girls ( I was only awake for about 5 minutes before I fell asleep though, lol).  So I would say overall it was a good week.<><

Reader discretion is advised: Today I went to see the doctor about my toe (remember that ugly beast?).  He said that it was growing into my skin and we needed to lift it up to keep it out.  So here’s what he did, he used a popsicle stick to pry it up, just in case you were wondering, yes, it hurt. But anyways, He pulled it up and blood started oozing out.  After we let it all bleed out he rammed a Cotton ball down it and its still there. fun huh?  This is a message to all human beings, don’t pick your toenails, unless you want to go through the fun I have:). <><

Exhaustion

My dog is going insane at night and won’t let me sleep.  He was so restless last night that I had to move to the floor, he followed me, so I slept under the bed.  It was actually very comfortable, unfortunately it wouldn’t last, my dog stuck his paw under and dug me out, ouch! I had to sleep on the couch. And this is why you don’t want an unfixed 200 pound dog who doesn’t know the difference between male and female during mating season.  It will pass soon ( I hope). <><
